At last, after years of rumors, questions, controversies, and doubts, global superstar David Beckham fulfilled his promise to bring a professional MLS soccer team to Miami. There is no doubt that this is a huge move for the league, and this brings a new professional sports team to South Florida.
Inter Miami, with its vibrant black and pink color scheme and its European-sounding name based off of another historic Italian club Inter Milan, promises success and glamour to American soccer. David Beckham wants this club to play with a fun and exciting style of football.
There is no greater market in the United States for soccer. Hugely successful European and South American clubs play preseason games in Miami, and national teams play friendlies in Miami to attract an international audience. Heck, there was even a Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona played here in Miami a couple years ago.
This city is ready to embrace its new football club. Miami has a deep latino influence, and there’s no question that South America loves their futbol. There’s an underlying soccer culture in Miami that has been embedded with its culture and its ready to be exposed to the world.
