What are Inter Miami's expectations this season?

Like any new expansion team in Major League Soccer, there is a learning curve for these new clubs during their first season. Unfortunately, the team is created and put together over the course of a few weeks and are left with little over a month to prepare for the upcoming season.


As a result, it would be difficult to expect them to start running straight out of the gate. It will take a lot of time and patience for them to adjust and get comfortable with one another. Team chemistry is built throughout the season and it takes many ups and downs to really grow as a team.


Despite recent success by former expansion teams like LAFC and Atlanta United, most expansion teams struggle to get their feet wet.


Realistically, Inter Miami will not compete for the MLS Cup this season, or possibly the next one either. One can hope, however, that within the next 3-5 years, they’ll be taking the league by storm.

This game was meant to be a simple preseason game, with little to no expectations and only a friendly match between two teams that want to prepare for their upcoming seasons. However, Inter Miami were greeted by hundreds of fans that traveled north to watch their team. For the entire 90 minutes, fans chanted and sang in Spanish and English. They planted banners along their supporter section and waved flags to the sound of banging drums and cymbals. The Inter Miami faithful overpowered the local Rowdies' fans, and the effect was felt on the field by the two teams.
