They still haven't signed a superstar meant to be the face of the franchise for this new team entering their first official season. Rumors have been circulating for months about what stars David Beckham could buy as the next big signing for the team and for the expanding league as a whole. As of now, heading into Week 3 of the MLS season, it seems as if there will be no mega superstar that will lead the team in their inaugural season. It feels disappointing, after there were promises of star power and hopes of competing for a championship in their first season. However, as it was discussed in an earlier post, winning a championship in an inaugural season is pretty difficult to accomplish. For now, Inter Miami fans will have to wait patiently. Unfortunately, there won't be a star player leading Miami's inaugural season like Kaka did in Orlando or David Villa...

This game was meant to be a simple preseason game, with little to no expectations and only a friendly match between two teams that want to prepare for their upcoming seasons. However, Inter Miami were greeted by hundreds of fans that traveled north to watch their team. For the entire 90 minutes, fans chanted and sang in Spanish and English. They planted banners along their supporter section and waved flags to the sound of banging drums and cymbals. The Inter Miami faithful overpowered the local Rowdies' fans, and the effect was felt on the field by the two teams. Inter Miami won the game 1-0, thanks to a goal by rookie forward Robbie Robinson in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, the team is created and put together over the course of a few weeks and are left with little over a month to prepare for the upcoming season. As a result, it would be difficult to expect them to start running straight out of the gate. It will take a lot of time and patience for them to adjust and get comfortable with one another. Team chemistry is built throughout the season and it takes many ups and downs to really grow as a team. Despite recent success by former expansion teams like LAFC and Atlanta United, most expansion teams struggle to get their feet wet. At last, after years of rumors, questions, controversies, and doubts, global superstar David Beckham fulfilled his promise to bring a professional MLS soccer team to Miami. There is no doubt that this is a huge move for the league, and this brings a new professional sports team to South Florida. Inter Miami, with its vibrant black and pink color scheme and its European-sounding name based off of another historic Italian club Inter Milan, promises success and glamour to American soccer. David Beckham wants this club to play with a fun and exciting style of football. There is no greater market in the United States for soccer. Hugely successful European and South American clubs play preseason games in Miami, and national teams play friendlies in Miami to attract an international audience.
